The Master of Science in Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship is a two-track programme. The applicants for this programme have liberty to choose either to follow the Agribusiness Management Track or the Agri-Enterprise Development Track.

The Programme provides students with the experience of utilizing independently, agribusiness Research principles to understand and solve real world problems. The Programme is designed for students to undertake core courses in by their first and second year and thereafter the student conducts Research.

The primary mission of this master’s Programme is to provide learners with the critical thinking, knowledge and technical skills they will need to make agriculture the driver of economic growth and development amidst socio-economic and environmental Challenges.

Programme Objectives

The objectives of the course are to:

  1. To equip students with skills in Agribusiness planning and management, strategic marketing, finance and risk management, and project planning to improve livelihood and food security.
  2. To develop students’ confidence in communicating agribusiness information to stakeholders.
  3. To train learners in quantitative techniques to analyse and evaluate possible effects of policy measures.

Nature of the Programme

The program will be taught with a blended approach where teaching, tests and course works will be done online, end of semester exams will be sat physically. The rationale for online classes is to address the clientele who are working class and might not have the time to travel for physical classes.

Target Group

The program target groups are Holders of at least a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Innovations, Agricultural Extension and Education, Vocational agriculture, Agribusiness or in any other subject area judged relevant, from a university recognized by UCU Senate.

A Bachelor’s degree (second class and above) or its equivalent from a recognized University. Applicants with lower qualifications must satisfy the Senate that they have acquired academic growth by evidence of research and publications

It is a weekend blended two-year study Programme with Research.

In the event a student chooses not to carry on with research, upon filling in the required forms, they may graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship.  The student must have passed all course work to attain the Diploma.
