Welcome to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at Uganda Christian University, a centre of excellence dedicated to advancing agricultural knowledge, innovation, and transformative leadership for sustainable development in Uganda, Africa, and the global community. As Dean, I am privileged to lead a forward-looking Faculty that integrates science, entrepreneurship, and Christian values to nurture competent professionals equipped to address contemporary challenges in agriculture, nutrition, and food systems.
Our Faculty is distinguished by its comprehensive and future-oriented academic portfolio that responds to the dynamic needs of the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors. We offer a wide range of programmes spanning specialised short certificate courses, undergraduate degrees, Master of Science programmes, and doctoral training. These programmes are carefully structured to produce highly skilled graduates in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Human Nutrition, Food Science and Technology, and Value Chain Management. Notably, our PhD in Agriculture and Value Chain Management is among the first of its kind in the region, designed to develop high-level researchers, policy experts, and innovators capable of transforming agricultural value chains for increased productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability across Africa.
A key pillar of our academic strength lies in our applied agricultural science, Human Nutrition and Food Science and Technology programmes, which address critical issues of food security, dietary quality, public health, and agro-processing. Through interdisciplinary training, cutting-edge research, and practical laboratory and field-based learning, we equip students with the competencies required to enhance food systems, promote nutrition-sensitive agriculture, and drive innovation in food processing, safety, and value addition. This integrated approach ensures that our graduates contribute meaningfully to combating malnutrition, improving household food security, and strengthening agro-industrial development both locally and globally.
